Board Certified Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr. Robert Harden is a board certified child and adolescent psychiatrist with more than four decades of service in the mental health field. A longstanding Texas clinician, he has built his career supporting individuals and families through a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and neurodevelopmental challenges.
Across his career, Dr. Harden has diagnosed and cared for patients with diverse mental health conditions in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. At Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, he served as Vice Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry and later as the Executive Medical Director of Child and Adolescent Services, where he oversaw clinical programming and directed treatment services for inpatient youth. His work included policy development, clinical team leadership, and ongoing education for multidisciplinary staff.
Dr. Harden also contributed his expertise to the Texas Department of Health and Human Services as a Psychiatrist IV at the Denton State Supported Living Center. There, he evaluated patients with complex psychiatric needs, guided treatment planning, and helped ensure that best-practice care standards were consistently met.
His clinical interests include neurodevelopmental disorders, childhood and adolescent anxiety, mood disorders, treatment-resistant depression, mindfulness-informed approaches, psychopharmacology, and neuromodulation therapies such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Dr. Harden is also the author of “How Psychiatrists Decide When to Use TMS,” an article discussing how clinicians evaluate treatment history, determine eligibility, and decide when TMS is an appropriate step in care.
Dr. Harden’s commitment to excellence has been recognized throughout his career. His honors include the Saul W. Ginsberg Fellowship Award from the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry, the Champion of Excellence Award from Presbyterian Hospital of Plano, and the American Psychiatric Association’s Life Fellowship Award. He is an active member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
Dr. Harden sees patients as a psychiatric consultant with Compassionate Psychiatric Services. He is available by appointment at our Frisco location and through virtual visits.
