Benjamin Martinez

Benjamin is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in Texas who is supervised by Amy Watson, LPC-S. He is also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). He has worked with adults, adolescents, families, and couples to help them discover the power they have to make positive change. He has experience helping people with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, anger, addictions, and other personal and mental health issues. Benjamin is passionate about creating a safe relationship where people can work through issues involving acceptance, identity, spirituality, relationships, values, and communication.

Benjamin centers his counseling on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which is trauma-informed. He approaches clients with a person-centered point of view and incorporates practices that are solution-focused, mindfulness-based, and culturally sensitive. He received his MA in clinical mental health counseling from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He has a MAR in theology from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California, and a BA in theology from Ambassador University.

Benjamin's work with clients who have experienced domestic violence and human trafficking has made him aware of the impact of traumatic events and the power people have to change. He focuses on the strengths and resources people have within themselves and in their communities. He entered this field after many years of working and volunteering in religious communities and seeing the need to help people find connections, overcome their past, and work towards personal growth.
